Yeah, I'm sure what you say is correct. You undoubtedly have more experience with this than I do. I did start to learn XML & XSLT for a project I was going to be involved in with a friend but nothing ever came of it. Consequently I am familiar with the concepts but don't have the practical experience needed to judge which is the best way to implement it all and where the processing should be done. I just like to throw some ideas into the mix and let better equipped people sort out the best methods to use.
