I am using minicom under FreeBSD (also tried win2k hyperterminal) and since installing hijack I cannot get to the bash prompt. I see the dmesg info @ startup but I am unable to hit q.. it says you have 0 seconds to hit q and goes right by it.. How do I get this or change the delay for the prompt??

please help

The 0 seconds is a joke, you don't have to have a delayed prompt.

You have to press Enter after you press Q, but you can do it at any time after the player software starts.

I know you don't use Hyperterminal, but the settings and troubleshooting steps quoted here still apply: click here.

Ok, I have the same problem. I have been trying to figure out why I can't change my custom animation again. I have done everything up to re-building the HD. I figured it out today and found this thread. When I am in 1.03 I can log on through Hyperterminal (XP) and get the bash. When I have 2.0b11, I can get the bash. Once I install hijack, I can't get anything. I was able to upload animations with hijack 242, but nothing since 247. What could be the deal. Also when upgrading hijack, since jEmplode can't autodetect it for some reason, I get error 16 using Tony's Logo Editor, but cycling the power I can upload a new version of hijack fine. Here is a serial dump from boot:

This boot log is kinda corrupted. Have a read through it. There are blank lines where there shouldn't be and missing characters/sections.

Flow control etc? Have you changed to 115200 in config.ini. Perhaps something is wrong with your PC?

I have everything set right. Like I said, with any kernel version, when I do not have Hijack installed, I can quit the the shell in hyperterminal. It's after I install Hijack. I tried to do that even with 240 (the oldest version I have backuped), and I couldn't access the shell. I got a serial log with 2.00b11, and no hijack and got some interesting things. I've just attached it rather than posting it. I'm wondering if where the kernel/hijack resides in the flash is corrupted somehow. Is there a way I can totally clear the flash, then reinstall the kernel? I ran the builder in the past, downgraded clear down to 1.02, 1.03, 2.00b11, and I always have Tony's risky tux. Shouldn't that be gone from flashing the kernel? That and my hijack settings stay. So I think I need to totally clear them out of memory to get things to work. Well It's something I haven't tried yet. So how would I clear the flash, or is that a no-no?

Oh yeah, I don't think its my computer due to the fact that I can access the player via ethernet from any computer on the network (except FTP, and HTTP.... emplode and jEmplode only) I haven't tried serial on anyother computer because it works without hijack installed. How do change to 115200 in config.ini for home use. I saw how to for car use, but this is just at home, and I thought that was default. It is set up correctly in Hyperterminal.
