If I remember correctly, the Blau remotes use a different carrier frequency. The empeg will not see this remote. Can anyone confirm?

Most or all of the Blaupunkt remotes use an incompatible carrier frequency. You should have done a quick BBS search before buying it. This thread documents other problems with people trying to use Blau remotes, for instance.

A good substitute would be the Pioneer CD-SR77 or CD-SR80. I use the SR77 with excellent results. Others are happy with the Kenwood steering wheel remote (not sure of the model number.)

Well i didn't buy it, i borrowed it from a friend... i don't see the pioneer as an option as it's ugly and not very cool at all... way too big too....

Well good luck finding other options, then. If there is a "cooler" option out there, I sure haven't seen it, and I've been around here longer than most.

Your other options for steering wheel control are listed here, just so you know.

By the way, I just had my installation completed and I got a Pionner SR100 remote. It looks just like the other two you mentioned and I have no idea what the difference is in terms of features. I confirm it is really comfortable. I find it better than the kenwood steering remote (which however had the advantage of being invisible), and that's why I chose this.

As a side note, I actually am experiencing this problem: somtimes it stops working, and I still don't understand if it is Alpha3 causing this or the battery, which I have no idea how old it could be. I'll find out.

However, I originally wanted to install a Sony Stalk. My installer did not have a cable one, as those mentioned on the FAQ, so we tested two IR Sony remotes, one basically identical to the stalk in the FAQ and one shaped as a semi-sphere. Unfortunately, the empeg would not see them. So, surprisingly, Sony IR are not compatible with the empeg, either.

Hmmm... Here's a great device frfom PAC that's suitable for in-car wired control devices... I'm searching now to see if they have any IR-IR remapping products. Running wires to a Thumber wouldn't be too practical while it's mounted to your steering wheel.

http://www.pac-audio.com/products/swi.htm

Another solution is to use a Sony Stalk - which requires the use of a tuner module for the empeg (I wonder if the SWI-X above could be hooked up for this... Anyone else come up with an alternate to the tuner?)

Taym, can you get the Empeg to recognize Long presses with your SR100? Do you ever get a single button-press generate more than one to the Empeg?

I have uninstalled the SR 100 remote a while ago. I do remember that some buttons at least could not. Maybe none of the buttons could.
And yes, unfortunately I did get more than one presses instead of one, but I seem to remember it was only related to the top button.
