Im having trouble getting emphatic working. Im trying to use the @EXEC way of running it this time instead of preinit like I have in the past and it is not showing up in the hijack menu. Here's what I have done:

1) put emphatic in /drive0/var using rz through hyperterminal (I was too lazy to walk downstairs to my router to plug it in down there and ftp)

2) added notify=1 and ;@EXEC_ONCE /drive0/var/emphatic

Is there more that I need to do than this? It is not even showing up in the hijack menu. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess is that when you used Zmodem to xfer emphatic to your empeg, it wasn't written with executable permissions. Drop to a shell and type chmod +x /drive0/var/emphatic and see if that helps your cause. Otherwise, post a serial boot log for more information.

I just did this and when I tried to mount read only to exit out, it said /drive0 is busy. I dont want to exit without doing this so what should i do. I have a very limited knowledge of linux.

Umm. Maybe there's a process running that's using /drive0.. Quite possibly emphatic.

Run this:

ps -ef

And if you see anything running on the music partition (emphatic, or whatever else) kill it by noting the process ID (the number in the first column) and typing:

kill 123

assuming the process ID is 123. Then try running rom and ro again to mount read-only. My guess is you botched the chmod command and accidentally ran emphatic.

Thanks. That worked to let me mount read only but emphatic still isn't showing up in the hijack menu. So here is the boot log you asked for...

Well, your output says you actually added
;@EXEC_ONCE /drive0/emphatic

I think. Is that really where it is?

Yeah, what he said. errno -2 is "file not found" so I think your EXEC_ONCE entry is broken.

Yep, that was it. I forgot to include the var in the config.ini. Thanks for your help. I got it working now. This sure is a lot easier than doing it the old preinit way now that I know how to do it this way.
