Wow. nice! I paid about a week's wages on Claire's engagement ring, but then took her to the same island in Greece we used to go to, but instead of our usual scabby apartment, we got one of the best suites in the poshest hotel on the island.

Again, I think a sensible split of value - a one off amazing experience, but also a nice ring - not too ostentatious but she likes it.

(Spent a bit more on the eternity ring after we had Hamish though..... eeeek)
