Just got my display board back from mlord with the button kit installed. And after putting it all back together and playing with it, I noticed that the button led's flicker every time I press a button or turn the knob.
Its especially noticeable if I use hijack to set the buttons at a lower lightness level.

Just wondering if this is a natural by-product of the button hack, or a sign that I need the dimmer fix.
It's a mk2a.

Selah,
Z~

I also just realized that I haven't had any of the other symptoms that would point to the dimmer fix. At least not that I ever noticed. The screen doesnt flicker during dimmer settings, but sometimed the dimmer setting and the actual brightness dont match. Thats about it though.

Yes, the knob LEDs will flicker when you do certain things on the front panel. This is normal behavior and does not indicate a problem.

Brian, I think you should put that on your page describing the button hack if it's not there already.

Hi Muzza.

As far as I understand it, this happens as a result of a timing problem. The controller for the buttons is the same chip that also controlls the backlight LEDs. When a button is pressed, any other task this controller is, well, controlling gets delayed. And as the leds' brightness level is controlled using a pulse length modulation, a button press leads to a flicker of the led.
