I've been trying to get Hijack(xml web interface) to work with Mozilla, and have it fire off xmms. So far I've met with dead ends. Has anyone been able to get this to work? And if so, how?

I have tried it with XMMS and Freeamp, with Mozilla (0.94) and Konquerer as browsers. No luck. In each case I get a popup with an ' select file to open' window (Linux Suse 7.3). This both for the pretty-looking XML interface (and the 'default' Hijack ' [click here for playlists]' style playlists.

On W2K, Winamp starts nicely from both classical interface and the XML screen using Mozilla 0.97.

We've had this problem in the past and Mark has quickly fixed hijack to send the correct content type. If you can post the http headers hijack is sending that don't work, and an example of http headers that work for you, I'm sure he'll see if it is fixable.

Could it also be a misconfiguration of your Mozilla/XMMS?

Well, here's a copy of my /usr/local/bin/xmms (which Mark L. supplied to me a while ago, he rocks). Works just fine w/ Netscape

I'm sure that works fine. I think Hijack is spitting out the headers just fine as well. The only problem is that when I go and attempt to and start the stream, mozilla goes into a loop and just tries to run the helper application and never finishes (same mime type I created for Netscape). Could it be Mozilla is more picky than Netscape with the content headers?

Sorry, no clue. I don't use Mozilla or xmms.

This all works for me. I am currently using Mozilla 0.9.9, with the latest version of Hijack -- includes some fixes for the latest Mozilla.

I still find it necessary to use the script, though, so for the benefit of all I have attached my current "/usr/local/bin/xmms" script to this posting. To use it, just ensure that the script gets run by mozilla instead of the real xmms binary.. it's a $PATH thing.
