I have recently bought a Riocar player and have just upgraded the Software to 2.00-beta 11 and the latest version of Hijack. I have bought a Kenwood steering wheel remote to operate it in the car. I now want to customise the remote commands by editting the config.ini.

I have read the instructions and added the line in the Windows registry as stated, but the edit config.ini option does not appear under "Tools" in Emplode. I even downloaded and ran a macro which automatically edits the registry just to be certain, but the "edit config" option still does not appear in Emplode.

I'm running Windows98.

Any suggestions ?

it may be that the registry hack only works for windows 2000?

The only ways I could see this happening is if:

- You are running the wrong version of Emplode. Check it in Help/About. Must be 2.0 something.

- The entry did not get into the registry correctly. Triple check that. Run Regedit and fish for it

- You did not exit emplode before making the edit to the registry. First, exit emplode, then make the registry change, then run emplode.

No, assuming the correct registry entry was edited, then it should work for any 32-bit version of windows.

Emplode is 2.0 beta11

I quit Emplode before editing the registry and later re-started the computer completely. The correct registry entry is still there when I look in regedit now, but still no edit config option.

When you restarted the computer, did you log in as a different user? The option is under the CURRENT_USER key, so if you switch users, you have to re-add the option for that user.

Are you 100 percent certain it's the right setting for the right key? For instance, are you sure it's under 2.0/settings instead of emplode/settings? Are you sure it's all spelled correctly? Is it a DWORD? Does it have a value of 1?

No I am the only user on this machine.

Yes to all , I even used the macro from the downloads page to automatically make the change and it just put a duplicate entry underneath the one I had added manually. (I deleted my original one in case the duplicate entry would cause problems)

I've just had a thought - I only downloaded the consumer version of the software not the developer version as I didn't think editting the config would count as developing the software - is this the problem ?

There's the problem.

The original edit wasn't correct. If it had been correct in the first place, running the .reg file would have not made any visible change in the registry.

OK - just to be absolutely sure, I've cleared my registry hack and then re-run the .reg macro which has added the entry back in, but there is still no "edit config" option in the Tools menu of Emplode.

Eureka,

I've just un-installed Emplode, deleted the registry entry for it completely, re-installed Emplode, re-run the registry editor macro and I've now got edit config.ini !!

Thanks for the the help

That's strange. It doesn't make any sense. I don't know why a re-install of emplode would have been needed.
