Ok gang here are the pictures of my original Mark I fascia prototypes that I was talking about.
I haven't made any Mark II proto's yet but have an idea on how to do it.
I am showing these to judge potential interest for these before I invest any more time to it.
I have also included a couple of other finishes I have, of which there are 10 to 20 different ones available.

Let me know what you all think.
Here is the link

Don't forget I still have custom lenses available.

Info on them can be found here

I would be interested in aftermarket facias for my mk2a but only if they had a matching handle available too. It would look too weird to have a cool facia then a handle with dimples on either side of it.

I'd only be interested in the original black plastic, though. I'm not much for the aluminum (wouldn't match my car) but it probably look cool in a TT or something.

Unfortunately you'd be left out then. I don't have the resources available to me for making metal parts.

Sorry.

Phew, I had to scroll all the way to the bottom before I found my favourite one. The wide cut done in aluminum.

I like the fact that the face is thinner and allows a near-flush layering with the lense. But ideally it would also be nice to push the whole assembly forward so it would line up better with the handle. Especially on the Mk2, IMO. Obviously it can be done fairly simply by replacing the stand-offs with longer ones, but that leaves the top and side edges of the player open. Again speaking ideally, it woud be nice to have the edges of the face curved or bent back (at the same time not leaving unjoined or sharp corner seams).

Let me know if you have any aditional info to share. Hopefully this thread will inspire some new discussion about replacement faces and give you enough interested parties to try some of your current ideas.

I agree with Hybrid8 that as long as the screen comes flush with the front of the handle and there is a radius edge then I am in to buy one of these.

Sounds good to me. I'd be in on one to match the silver finish of my Panansonic head unit.

Definitely interested in some for my MK2/Rio. Would be great if we could get those CNC aluminium faces like CruzThs and beaker were working on a few months back but seem's too costly. One question I don't see the knob anywhere is there a place for it or it is not used.

Hmmmm.... can the MKI handle be used on an MKII then?

I would be interested in the Wide version of this fascia for an MKIIa .... but only if there were a matching handle to go along with it that didn't have the indentions. I guess body filler could be used on the MKII handle, but then it would have to be painted to hide it.... which wouldn't match the aluminum facia (unless it was also painted I guess).

Use a dremel to sand the powder coat off the MK2a handle. It'll be plain aluminum colour then. Use an epoxy stick (two parts you mash together like play-doh) to fill the indent on the left. It'll dry white. Give it a couple of very small blasts of silver spray paint from a 1-2' distance. You won't be able divet was there. Of course after applying the epoxy and before painting you should make sure the finish is nice and smooth and the epoxy is properly feathered.

Here's a sample shot I took when I played with my first fascia.
