I am have a problem using emRAWerter and I am wondering if someone could help identify what I am doing wrong! When I load a .raw file into emRAWerter (vuback.raw for example) and then use copy from emRAWerter to paste into another application, such as logoedit or MS Paint, all of the non-black pixels seem to get shifter one notch brighter.

This does not occur on all files. So far, it seems to only happen on files that have some pixels at full brightness. As an example the original vuback.raw file copies and pastes back and forth without any shift but Tony's revised version comes out shifted. this is on a Windows 2000 system.

Any clues as to how I can remove the short between my headphones would be appreciated! Perhaps this doesn't belong here in "Programming" so feel free to move it if appropriate.

I have been working around this using PaintShop Pro and applying my "empeg logo palette" against anything I edit.

You can create this palette file yourself by pasting a picture from the logoeditor and making a palette off of that.

What doesn't make sense is why something pasted from logoedit straight into RAWerter would have this problem... It shouldn't... I'll check that behavior on my system.

I see what's going on. The RAWerter, when loading up the grayscales from a fresh RAW file, makes the light gray REALLY REALLY LIGHT, and when you paste that into logoeditor, it goes above logoedit's upper cutoff point for light gray.

Problem can be corrected by making the following edit to LogoEdit.ini:

GrayCutoff2=160
change to
GrayCutoff2=166

Another thing that might be good to happen is that the author of RAWerter could change it so his displayed (and copied-to-clipboard) value for light gray is much darker.

My logoeditor deliberately makes the light gray look really dark because that's how it looks on the player. My values are:

GrayDisplayValue0=0
GrayDisplayValue1=80
GrayDisplayValue2=96
GrayDisplayValue3=255

RAWerter's values are 0, 83, 166, 255, so all but the light gray are close enough to begin with.

I suggest RAWerter should display its light gray at somewhere between 96 and 160. Perhaps 129 or something, that would be a good compromise for most color-reduction algorithms (with cutoffs at 128 for middle gray).

Tony,

Thanks for the clue. I made the change you suggested but I still found that the grey levels were changing when going back and forth from logoedit to emRAWerter. I tried moving GreyCutoff1 to 85 and it seems to be ok now but I will continue to do some more testing.

When I asked about this issue, I was sent to a post by a chap called tfabris that suggests 0, 91, 115, 255.

Must have been a really old set of gray values that I've long since changed the defaults for.
