There is an easy to trigger bug in beta10, don't know if it was there before or not. If you select the visuals menu in radio mode the unit restarts (losing any recently changed info/visual settings).

This happened to me a few hours ago, as well only I wasn't in radio mode -- I was playing MP3s on the unit. I'm running consumer beta10.
The unit was in the docking sled, booted, and happily playing music. I was using the remote to select the visuals menu and demonstrate to someone the new visuals functionality (names and menu selection) when the unit rebooted. I do not recall which visual I was on at the time of occurrence (or if it matters).
The car had only been running for about a minute. I've not seen anything like this before and am 100% sure connections are correct and secure in the vehicle; the sled connections were triple checked, soldered, and properly shielded with heat shrink tubing; last check was done in December after an internal fuse blew on the unit and Rob asked me to make absolutely sure of the connections before we proceeded with repair.
I could not reproduce the problem -- but didn't spend a lot of time with it, either. I'll try again with more intensity, tomorrow.

I've noticed this, too. I'm not sure yet if it has to do with the visual (I've been running Hula Hoops since I got b10), but it seems every time I start my car now, Emma (thanks, Henno) plays a couple of seconds of music and reboots. This isn't a FULL reboot; it takes about 2 seconds and the bootup text scrolls up the display. This started when I loaded Consumer beta-10. Thanks, Jason

Yeah! I was the first, so how come everyone's copying me? (And if you want proof, check out my first postings following the arrival of my unit, number 00015, last August). PS. This thread, to be precise: http://empeg.comms.net/cgi-bin/showpost.pl?Board=install&Number=149&page=5&view=collapsed&sb=5- I hereby claim the right to call my empeg "Emma".

Emma (thanks, Henno)Although I too call her Emma sometimes, I didn't invent it. Rob Schofiel slipped his tongue when I came over to his place to have a look at his Empeg (with a very low serial number) when my number came up. In his enthousiasm he called it/her Emma - I didn't understand it then but sent in my creditcard details anyhow. Both of us call her Emma now, I guess . . . . It shouldn't matter; they're twins Henno # 00120 (6GB+18 )

I've noticed this, too. ( . . ) every time I start my car Funny; I've had it too, but only once. It may well be a genuine bug. Too bad that it shows up just now the empeg team is trying to build a stable release. Except for this one incident that happened very shortly after upgrading; Emma (sorry Rob )was still on the desk. Since then the release has been rock solid. Especially the dependable syncs are a relief. Henno # 00120 (6GB+18)

I didn't even get the chance to name mine - when Hugo handed it over, back in the mists of time, it already had a little sticker saying "Jemima".

Sorry, Rob. I guess I read too many posts on this BBS! -Dibs on 'Emmy'! Anyway, Empeg team, I assume this fix will go in 10a? I'm guessing you already knew about it, as it seems to happen across the board (NPI). Thanks, Jason _~= Dearing =~_ "WAY too happy about having #99."

No luck in reproduction, so far. I tried with the unit out of the sled and had no success. I'm still going to try with it in the sled.
I'm a college basketball nut who is attending three games of the Sweet 16 NCAA tournament this weekend. You may not hear from me until I get the beer out of my system.

I'm afraid I was responsible for naming it Jemima. I was starting a trend of naming them after Childrens' TV characters. The trend lasted for one unit.

Well then, if I land a Mark 2 prototype I'll call it Big Ted.

Does that mean I'll get to throw it through the square window?

I encountered the rebooting bug as described for the very first time this morning. This morning was also the first time that I started a playlist while the Hula Hoop visual was selected (several of the less educated inhabitants on this board don't realize that FunnelWeb and Anna Vu are much cooler). B)
Since leaving the Hula Hoop visual selected, every time I have started a playlist or powered on the unit, I have experienced the reboot bug.
This afternoon, I switched back to good ol' FunnelWeb, and I haven't experienced the bug since.

I just tried it and had no trouble- I can't reproduce the bug. I was running on AC power, though, were you referring to in-car only? Tony FabrisEmpeg #144
