If you have the developer version on, get to the bash prompt with a terminal emulator (for instance Hyperterminal in Windows) there's a
FAQ entry on that.
Then issue the following commands:
rwm
rm /drive0/fids/*
(
if you have a 2-disk player, also do
rm /drive1/fids/*
)
rm /drive0/var/database
rm /drive0/var/playlists
rm /drive0/var/tags
ro
If you don't have the developer version installed, and don't want to install it and play around on the command line:
Get the
disk builder .upgrade file from the empeg site (you want the one labelled "Test builder image (2001/10/22) for empeg Mark II and Rio Car players")
Apply it as you would a normal upgrade file. This will wipe everything off the disk(s) and leave them just as they were when you got them. Any custem .ini settings, equalizer settings etc will be gone too.
A good read up on the disk builder upgrade file is in the
Disk upgrade FAQ
Then you want to apply a software version, bet scandidates are 1.03 or 2.0b11.
This is essentially the same as replacing the disk with a new one except for the mechanical mounting things (essentially only step 6 in the drive upgrade FAQ).
