This has probably been brought up before but I searched back a couple of pages and didn't see it so here goes.

Please, PLEASE come up with some way to pull the clock up quickly. Some kind of button sequence, anything. Press Left And Right at the same time.. anything. Trying to get the clock up when you need it is a PITA and there needs to be some kind of shortcut short of shuffling visuals around.

I bet you could fit the clock on one of the info screens down in the corner.

One of the Timecodes is the clock. Cycle through them and you'll get there eventually. btw you've got to be using one of the 2.0 betas.

You could use the ir_translate feature of Hijack to make a macro.... i think. If i ever get time to finish/start documenting Hijack, i could point you to a faq entry.... =]

Yea, I realize that there are ways to bring the clock up, the only problem is it isn't fast. If I'm driving down the road, I don't want to have to fiddle with something to bring the clock up. That could be bad for me and my car's health. There needs to be a way to bring the clock up quickly while you're going down the road. What you have to go through now is just like not having a clock.

I figured that Hijak could probably handle the clock solution. Unfortunately I know very little about Hijak outside of the few things I use it for. I look forward to reading your FAQ.

Yah, I gotta agree with this one. One of my biggest pet peeves is the lack of an easy-to-display clock.

Yes, you can use a clock visual (but you still have to bring up the visual in order to see the clock).

Yes, you can use a timecode for the clock, but that requires you to be in an info mode that displays timecodes.

Why can't there be something simple like selfie suggested? Hold down left button on display for 1 second, have it "jump" to a simple clock (or heck, even one of the clock visuals) for a couple seconds, and jump back. That would even suffice.

0.02 here!

A while back I suggested something simpler. Make the clock setting separate from the timecode setting. Make it a separate tiny "window" that can be either shown or hidden, maybe in the top right where there's not much else currently going on. Obviously it would have to disappear when the playlist menus are on screen, though.

Otherwise, for me, the clock is virtually useless.

I have put in my fav visuals a clock visual between each of the other visuals i.e. funnelweb-clock-sound samosa-clock, then just hit the visual button via remote it's a quick clock. Also this works well if you have the new beta 11 feature where the visuals change randomly w/tracks or song changes I get the time periodicly.

So set your visual to the clock and then you can long-press the bottom button to jump to it and back.

Still a rig, though. I shouldn't have to be inconvenienced by having to do this just so I can get to a simple clock on the thing.

Something that *doesn't* require the use of the remote control (which I never use anyway).

Uh, what about Bitts suggestion? No remote involved, and if you really don't use the visuals (only use the full page info modes) then you're just that long press of the bottom button (on the player) from the clock. Another long press and it hides again.

Or the Empeg guys could just add something that doesn't require sacrificing a goat under a full moon on the first Tuesday of a leap year to make work.

I don't see the big deal here with adding in a quick shortcut to the clock and I can't believe no one cares about rapid access to a clock. Maybe me and Rob are the only two that ever have to be anywhere on time.

I bet you could fit the clock on one of the info screens down in the corner.

This may not be what you're looking for... but one easy way is to leave the info setting at "Line" and the Time setting to "Clock" and then you always have the clock tucked away in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

I agree with using the clock visual with a SIMPLE long press of the bottom button MUST be the easiest.

OR using the timecode mode of clock and you still have the blob on the line between the songs to tell you how much of the song has elapsed.

Alternatively, buy a watch ?

Whoa! No one's saying that it's an unreasonable request. We're just suggesting a workaround until such time as the empeg guys (hopefully) implement your request.

And I don't think I have ever had a car which didn't have a clock in the central console or above the rear view mirror.
In my Scooby it's all of 2 centimetres above the empeg, so I'm quite happy with removing all time references on the empeg completely.

Oh, and a watch, and a mobile phone with a clock on screen as well. And big clocks on all the roads into major cities. Arrggh! There's no need for all this. I think the world's got too hung up on accurate time. I'm going the opposite way - I got rid of my digital watch at Christmas and now I'm learning how to read hands again

Well thats a pretty silly supposition IMHO. Not all cars have clocks outside of their factory head units, so when you replace the head unit, you remove the clock. And in fact, most factory head units have the clock ALWAYS on in some fashion.

For the least precise time possible while still wearing a watch, try this. It keeps perfect time, it just doesn't feel obligated to tell you about it.

Since you all seem to want to go back to old technology for displaying the time, let's just roll back the Empeg also. Click here for a nice alternative to your empeg.

Yea.. Ive already set the player up to display the clock when you hold down the bottom button. I private messaged Mark about the possibility of adding something like this and he whipped it out in a couple of hours. That guy is a machine.

There are plenty of less precise time measurement instruments than a movado. Despite the lack of markings, it's pretty darn precise. You can certainly tell when 12, 3, 9 and 6 oclock are. You can certainly tell the half intervals between, and the quarter intevals between that, and so on. Just because the markings are not there doesn't mean you can tell the time down to the minute on a movado. :-) To the second, definitely not, but it works.

Not me. I let mine float down the Colorado River last summer and haven't been happier. Though having an easy to read clock in the car would be handy. I guess with a double DIN, and no radio, I could always go with a second head unit. Seems kinda silly though when the empeg has a working clock already there. I might look into hacking Kit's clock hack from 1.03.

For years I had a cheap little car with no clock in it. I went to an auto supply store and bought a simple little LCD clock that had sticky-tape on the back of it (I think it cost me about $3.00) and just stuck it onto the dash where it didn't look too bad and I could see it from the driver's seat.

But thats a simple solution

Right now I usually look at my cell phone if I need to know the time. It is odd though how your preception of time changes when you don't use a wristwatch. Especially growing up with one, and never going more then a day without it up till last year.

And if anyone finds a Timex Datalink watch in the Colorado river, let me know. It's probably still keeping time, since it had a new battery before loosing it, and it's made out of stainless steel and a quartz faceplate. It was the most industructable watches I ever owned. And the PDA capabilities were somewhat cool if you don't carry any other device for that.
