I'm going crazy.
I've got a dsl connection with the 4port linksys befsr41 router/switch with newest firmware. Ive been running an iis website for over a year with no problems, other than the occasional ip change.
I figured i would just point port 80 on the linksys to my Empeg's internal address and Everything would work great ( i saw at least one post from someone who managed to get this working) But, it does not. It all works great behind the linksys but not from outside. From inside i can view and open in ie/winamp with no problems. outside itconnects and eventually times out.
I have gone over and tried every relevant linksys option and all get the same result. I have set up the empeg as DMZ (for testing purposes only), turned off block wan request, made sure spi was disabled all the regular stuff. From the logs, it appears the requests are shown in the "incoming log" but nothing showing any response from the empeg in the outgoing. I have seen this problem all over the newsgroups but i have yet to find a solution. What am i missing?!?
It can't be my isp becuase ive set up streaming mp3 servers before on my windows box.
I'm runnin beta11 and hijack193.

I almost hesitate to ask...what's the default route set to on the Empeg? For grins, can you list the address+mask for both the Linksys LAN port and the Empeg?

I've got the same Linksys here. I'll take a look and see if I get any bright ideas....

well beat me with an idiot stick.
I neglected to set a gateway in the empeg. Must have been during the excitement of new empeg owner setup last month.
Thanks!

Okay, I am gonna sound like a stupid newbie, but that is what I am. I am also running my empeg behind a router. I have hijack on beta 11. I have no problems running this behind my router, but is there any step by step instructions online for how to allow people to access it from the outside world. Just for note, behind the router it is on 192.168.1.5

Thanks

step 1 would be to make sure ur runnin hjack v185 or better.
step 2 forward port 80 on ur router to your empeg's ip
step 3 make sure you empeg has the router's internal ip as its gateway prolly 192.168.1.1.
then goto http://you.external.ip/?playlists

thats about all i had to do.
this is asuming of course your router is properly setup, and your isp isnt doin any funny business.
