Wow, SonicBlue is out?! I got one a few weeks ago from them. They find a buch of 30 and 60gig players, but no extra sleds? It wasn't much cheaper at SonicBlue...you might just have to bite the bullet.

No, they are not cheap to make. If you can find a way to make them cheaper, please, be our guest.

Save your money and get a normal receiver for the house. If you can't afford a sled, just velcro the unit on top of the dash. It's not real conveinient but it wouldn't cost hardly anything.

$115 is $15 cheaper than I paid SonicBlue when they had them. And like was said above, I don't imagine cutting and fashioning all that metal is cheap.

The metal, which is CNC punched, isn't cheap, but the real killer is the wiring harness. It *cost* us something like $40-50 even when we ordered 4000 of them. Hence the cost of the sleds...

ya i coudl image the metal being dirt cheap but that harenss is something else.. just becuase they throw similar metal trays in with cheap cheap radios

The metal trays you get with cheap radios are in no way similar, they are much thinner, cheaper, and less sturdy than the empeg sled.

You could buy another 10G Empeg for about $300 or so, with sled (and have a spare!)

im sure someone who bought extra units has extra trays they woudl be willing to sell.. i mean i was reading one guy bought like 10 extra players..

I haven't a clue, I don't run the store any more. There are a number of stacks almost as tall as me, though!
