Doods, I found a nice way to fill the empty Empeg hole when not in use, Pretty useful for those people's that also have a CD Head unit.
Fischer CD Box, apparently a standard item in some Porsche's? I think it cost me about 40 bucks (Ozzie) you need to shave about 1mm of plastic from the edge ribs with a stanley knife then it clips into the empeg bracket like a bought one! you can eject a CD then use this as the handle to pull the whole box out, thought I am thinking of ways to put 2 little handles on either side save breaking it.
Cheers, Gazz

yn0t_: ...part number?
Well, not sure, but if you are running IE (NOT Mozilla, Konqueror, or Mozilla!) you can go to http://www.fischerwerke.de/autousa/ and have some hope of operating the menus.
I got the home page at least, but there was something fishy going on.... Guess I'll just stick with my homebrew box

You sure it wasn't something fischy going on?
Anyway I had found this page with a picture of what looks like the same item, but I wanted to know what model was known to kinda sorta fit into the Empeg. I have no problem customizing it. I need something to fit in there for some more stealth.

If 44888000 is the item #, it is much less money on this site.

That item# appears to be the store's number, not the manufacturers. I couldn't find the manufacturer's number, nor a picture, so I'm a little unsure what's going on there...

The description at the bottom of the page makes it seem like the correct item. Then again, the lack of picture and cheap description makes you wonder if that place even stocks it.
Universal CD Box offers non-bending, scratch-free storage-in separate, push-button drawers-for four CDs.

Right... And I'm not taking any chances unless I know it's the same one Gazz mentioned in his posts.
Hmm now that I think about it some more, I'd almost rather have a plain cover panel for stealth purposes rather than a CD box. I don't carry CD's in my car, my CD player probably hasn't been used in months... And the box has to sit on the floor somewhere, whereas a little plastic panel such as the one Tony has on his Honda could fit in my glove box or center console. Hmm.
OTOH, anyone who sees a black panel in the top DIN on a Mustang will know that something's up, since you just can't get even a Mustang without a radio, and it always goes in the top DIN. They would see my head unit in the bottom (with or without detached face) and start to wonder why I'd put it in the bottom DIN. Car stereo thieves can be a crafty bunch when they need to be.
What I *really* need is a fake stock Mustang face that fits over my Empeg. It'd be pretty cool if companies started selling those... Just like little rubber or plastic covers that mimic the stock radios.

OK, how about this idea... You buy this head unit for about $35. Then you detach the face and stick it in the Empeg hole. Anyone who sees that would pass up your car in a second.

Wow, that's an amazingly good fit. Looks great.
Not what I'd do, as I want to deter thieves rather than encourage them, but still, a nifty find.
