I just installed this puppy.... runs great, however right after I start my car I get a graphic of a car battery in the left uper corner of my player screen. It goes away after a few seconds but I'm concerned, is this bad?

The battery icon shows up when the power dips below a cetain value (10V?). You could have too much starting up at the same time to cause this (amps?). I wouldn't be too concerned, but I would also try to figure out what's causing the dip.

Wow... that sucks! I just plugged it in real quick to test... I haven't even put my amp in yet. It's an 99 Audi A4 and theres really nothing else hooked up yet. Any suggestions on where to start looking?

I let it play for a 5 or 10 minutes with the engine off and never got it.... started the car and got it immediately after startup, lasted maybe 3 or 4 seconds.... I did have the ac on...

If you have the Empeg on and playing with the engine off, then turn the engine on, you will definitely get the battery icon. However, it really shouldn't happen when you turn the engine and the Empeg on together.

It is normal for the voltage on a car to drop when you start the engine. The starter motor is the one thing that consumes the most electricity in the whole car.

The battery icon appearing during car-start is normal and I would not worry about it unless there were other problems.

Currently, my amplifiers pop when I start the car while the player is playing music, and I'd like to get to the bottom of that one. But the battery icon appearing is normal.
