Hi there. I am having some problems with my player. I just received the player yesterday, upgraded to version 2.00-beta 3, and copied a few songs up into the database. I made a playlist and was playing it for a bit before deciding to start over and get rid of my test data. I then removed all my songs and the playlist. This is where the fun starts.

The player will startup and get to the startup screen where it says "starting audio." I know it dies here because the player does not like not having a playlist available (learned this the hard way -- searching other people's posts) and will not respond to emplode. Interestingly, I can get into bash and walk my way around but don't know what to do.

Since emplode won't start up, I don't know how to reimage the device. The device does get an IP address, but it does not respond to the network connect or to the serial connect. The machine does respond to a ping but will not allow me to access it via emplode. Any ideas what to do?

Here's the startup text. I appreciate any help that can be provided. It just stops after the last DHCP item is issued. Any key will exit out to bash.

You don't need to have emplode connecting to the device to reimage it. Just use the upgrade wizard (which is a separate app to emplode) to downgrade the player to 1.03

You should also downgrade emplode to 1.03

I just received the player yesterday, upgraded to version 2.00-beta 3, and copied a few songs up into the database.

Stop right there. 2.0 beta 3 has a bunch of known bugs, one of which is a pretty serious boot problem.

Downgrade to version 1.03 and see if the problem persists.

Then, if you're serious about testing beta software, use 2.0b7 not b3. Why did you try B3 anyway, why didn't you go to B7 if you just got the player?

Nice. Much better. Thanks. I have upgraded to 2.0 beta 7 and am a happy camper again.

2.0 beta 3 was the first one I saw. Yes, big mistake. Won't make that one again.

I recommend you stick with 1.03 for a while as it's stable. Both of the 2.0 betas have bugs, some of them are show-stoppers. A new 2.0 beta should be appearing fairly soon, I saw them marking some bugs as fixed in the database today.
