IBM's larger capacity drives are too tall to safely fit into the empeg player, sorry!

Toshiba have announced an 18Gb drive which will fit OK, but we're not sure when they'll be available or how much they'll cost.

Rob;

I am shopping for a drive and the recommendations I have received from EMPEG was to stay with the Toshibas (current models).

Do you drive size specs that we should shoot for, Width, Length, Weight, heat output, ...??

The width and length should be totally standard, but the height varies from model to model. The highest drive you can fit is 14mm. To put this in perspective, the 10Gb Toshiba drives that we fit are 12.5mm high and the 25Gb IBM TravelStar drives are 17.5mm (too big for many laptops as well as the empeg).

It´l be nice if where was an automatic reply :your are number ******
And when I´t my turn there will probaly be a 25GB from Toshiba!

By the way, are the specks wrong or is there anoter reson that it wont fit?
acorting to the specks it allow an HD that is 17mm as is the IBM.
