Just too impatient to get mine!

I just received this email from David :

The high level of sales following the recent price reduction has meant our dispatch office has been dealing with ten times the normal workload. This has lead to long delays in shipping orders.
Unfortunately, to add to the problem, a shipment of power supplies has been delayed, causing us to hold back orders. We hope to have them by Wednesday.

To clarify, these are power supplies to go in the player boxes. If you have ordered an extra power supply, your order is not being held up because of it.
Once they are in stock, your order will be shipped as soon as possible. Once again, our apologies for the delay.

So now you know. Gee, I hope those new power supplies won't be the same ones SonicBlue provides if you buy a separate one. You know, those "bricks" some other user posted about last week.

No! This is killing me! The child in me is crying now!
Seriously speaking, this means that if all goes _perfectly_, we'll have our players on thursday. Since nothing's perfect in this world, it's gonna be next week.

Oh boy, the suspens is killing me ... ordered a 60Gb and was told they weren't in stock but was offered a 30Gb instead.
I sure hope I'm going to receive one.

Well, I ordered my 2 empegs about the 23rd of last month, with international power supplies as I live in New Zealand.
Other than some emails from Rob when I changed my order slightly and 1 from David about the wrong Expiry on my CC - I heard nothing [the last was on the first when David said 'order information has been updated'.

Yesterday the shippers custom agent called me to say that they had a shipment from empeg in the UK and they wanted my Customs 'Customer number' so they could get the paper work for the (ineveitable) import tax under way.

So I made a trip out to the [nice and new] local TNT freight handling depot to collect my goods once I'd paid the import tax.

When I got home I unpacked both units and checked them out. Both came with the same IEC connector power supplies that I got when I originally bought my empeg - in fact if anything I think the newer ones are smaller than the earlier ones.
But they were from the same supplier (Sunpower UK).

So unless The extra power supplies are radically different from what I got - you can expect the same I guess if you ordered a international power supply.

They certainly were not the massive 3.5 amp bricks that the SB store in the Us is shipping as 'extra' power supplies.

BTW: I like the new blue screen coating/colour - I like it so much I'm going to swap it to my original Empeg unit until I can clone this player to the one of the new ones.

The locking handle does seem different [better] also - I know others have commented on this as well.

So Thanks David@Empeg and Rob also - its good to get a spare unit at last if nothing else.

I certainly appreciated Robs dedication to duty coming in over christmas and all to change the store pricing and to process orders and do the confirmation emails and David as well - no doubt the lack of shipping notices is simply due to the extreme pressure to get the orders shipped.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. If you lucked out, you would've received an email saying so by now.
The fact that you didn't receive anything yet is actually good.

I ordered my on the 23rd and received it on the 3rd.
Haven't done anything with it yet as I appear to have the legendary hard drive connector problem and I am awaiting a new cable.
An empty packet was received last week by mistake evidently the post men in Cambridge are to keen to take the mail ! I hope a new one will arrive tomorrow.

I'm surprised that, seeing so many units seem to have this problem, the guys@empeg didn't replace all the hd cables of the remaining units with a cable that is certified to work. (or at least test the existing ones).
Or maybe the problem is actually more rare than one would suspect after reading these boards for a while. After all, there are many more for which the hd cable does work fine, and of course you don't hear those people saying that

I got the email too. Glad to finally have some confirmation!

Just out of interest, taym, does your consignment number work at TNT's tracking website?

The tracking numbers take a while to appear on TNT's system - your number has appeared now.

International numbers (which you have to lookup on a different site) take quite a while longer.

Yup, I also received my first order yesterday. It too arrived without any notification.

Today David sent me an email with the tracking number of my second order. I suspect it to arrive tomorrow or so.

Congrats on your new toy!

Um, there is no import tax in new zealand.

You would have been paying the usual 12.5% GST that you pay on everything purchased either locally or overseas

Yeah I know, I was just using a generic term that others on the board would be familiar with.
[Otherwise I have to explain that 12.5% GST = Goods & Services Tax = V.A.T for UK/European readers and 'Sales Tax' for US and Canadian readers etc etc].

Ok.
Last night I opened the package. Everything is there, except a carrying case. Maybe they do not come with the emepg anymore? I got one when I ordered my first empeg.

It works perfectly, fortunately no problems with the ide cable or else. sw versio 1.02 . I'll post my serial number in the proper thread later on. Now I am still busy downloading the fids from my old player. I just so happy...

No, they don't. ISTR that they might have been a special deal, and besides, they're not rebranded as Rio, so...

Oh, you're right, it WAS a special deal at the time. Well, they are still availble at the Uk store, so...
Also, I got a different AC adaptor. This is not the big one that we talked about here, i think, it is not too big. But it has a german plug (which is fine) and a transformer that is in the middle of the power cord, rather than at the end, one integrated with the plug. That's fine too, even thogh I still don't know if it fits in the empeg bag I have.
