Hi,
Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to buy one of the units when they originally dropped the price. I wasn't aware of the drop until the order frenzy was over.

As such, I was surprised to see that they showed 30GB and 60GB models back in stock this weekend.

I immediately ordered a 60GB unit, along with the out of stock tuner (just in case, though I knew chances were basically 0%).

Is there any hope that I might actually receive one of these?
I am planning on calling sonic blue this morning once they open to figure out the exact deal; but for those on this list in the know, what do my chances look like?
Was this just a website screwup? I did get a call from a 3rd party verifying my order; but he had no information about stock.

Thanks in advance,

corey

I would say very high, I placed a second order and it looks like it will arrive. If you don't get it, plenty of people here will have an extra 20G to sell, just add a new HD later on.

Ok,

I just got a hold of sonic blue on the phone. They are saying that they show a stock of approximately 200 units of both the add-on tuner and the unit itself?
Can this be correct?

I would be more inclined to go with the information posted here by folks more inside the loop and in the know and assume that the tuners are all gone.

Yet the sales guy assured me that the information he had showed stock on both. I am somewhat worried in that an incomplete order will be held; ie I might get screwed on receiving a head-unit if the tuners really aren't available.

Can someone comment on the tuner situation definately/finally to dispute the customer service reps at sonic blue?

I will need to call back and make an order change if they are definately all gone now, to ensure I actually receive a head-unit.

Thanks in advance,

corey

FYI, they do not allow partial order cancellation. They have to cancel your entire order and then have you re-order online. I think you have a better chance just leaving the order alone.

I placed an order for a 60GB on January 5 when someone here reported the in-stick indicator came up. I also ordered in hopes that the most-expensive item would be sold out last.

My order still says 'Has Products Pending Shipment' and 'Shippable' (in the gray description bar) so we'll see.

I ordered a 60Gb on 1/6, I even got a phone call from Sonic Blue shortly after confirming the order and was told it would ship today but so far it hasn't. Who knows. They seem pretty clueless there at times.

I now would tend to think that the chances of getting a 60GB ordered up to Jan 5 would be high.

I ordered a 10GB on Jan 2 and I got the shipping notice today, along with a tracking number that shows it having left San Jose this evening.

I would imagine the 20GB I ordered on Jan 3 will soon ship, as well as the 60GB I ordered on Jan 5.

And no, I am not hoarding or speculating -- I have a co-worker and family member who each have long wanted empegs but could not afford the price, justifiable as it was.

So -- its looking like anyone who came to their senses on or before Jan 2 will likely have their empeg.

Best of luck to all.

I hope you're right. I ordered a 10 gig on the 3rd, and then a 20gig on the 4th (thinking the 10 might now ship). Neither one has changed in status yet. I am 99% sure the 20gig was listed in stock when I ordered, though I'm not sure on the 20 gig. Either way, I'm still without a tuner Maybe this is a good excuse to go with an XM radio
