I placed my order on Friday and checked yesterday to see if it had shipped. The website reported it hadn't, so I called Sonic|blue directly to see if they knew when it would go out. After a half-hour(!) wait on hold, the agent who finally answered said that Digital River were the only ones who would know, since they do fulfillment. So, I called the DR number he gave me, waited the obligatory hour(!!!) on hold, to be told that they no longer do Sonic|blue's customer service, and that the module was being shipped directly from Sonic|blue itself. I did not, for the obvious reason, attempt another call to Sonic|blue.

Anybody have their goodie ship yet? The Sonic|blue rep I talked to said his computer listed 48 in stock, and also claimed that an order on Friday should have shipped Saturday.

Mine is still pending shipment and the order was placed on Saturday. I'm still hoping that it arrives before Friday.

From the status page

>Has Products Pending Shipment

I called SB and was told "it can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to process the order"

Ahh the tuner saga continues!

Here's the reply I got from Dominic at SONICblue Customer Care:

"Let me clarify this for you... Estore order status checks can be done through our CS department (1-800-468-5846). Digital River has nothing to do with our customer support, and is more 'behind the scenes' when dealing with Estore operations. All of our customer service representatives are aware of this. I would be really interested to get this customer's information to see if we have record of his call."

So there you have it - leave Digital River out of it and talk directly with us if you have a problem. Clearly you should not have been told to call DR - if you can remember who you spoke with on the first call, please let me know and I'll pass the information on.

Rob

I ordered on the 24th and it shipped today (28th). I received e-mail notification of both events.

So far, so good!

I ordered mine on Sunday, and got it today.

All I can say is wow!

Wow for three reasons: It works EXTREMELY well, it's bigger than I expected (not terribly so), and Wow, I forgot how bad Radio sounds! (Compared to my MP3 collection. Nothing to do with the tuner quality)

I basically wanted it for traffic reports, and I think it's a good idea to listen every once in a while and hear what's new.

Empeg has once again produced a product that exceeded my expectations

edit: I received notification this evening at 7:24pm that my order had shipped. I recived the tuner approximately 6 hours before the notification!

I ordered mine on Friday and it hasn't made it down to San Diego, CA yet. It is still stuck in Oakland, CA per FedEx tracking. But you ordered on Sunday and it already made it from San Jose, CA to Florida?

Was there a choice for shipping method that I didn't notice? Mine was shipped with Express Saver.

Oh well, it will be here soon enough.

No idea who I spoke with at Sonic|blue, but the telephon number you mentioned for Customer Service is the one I used. If your contact would like to investigate further, I'd be happy to provide my particulars.

Got an email today that my tuner had been shipped, and the tracking number reveals it's mere hours from delivery. Hoorah.

Yeah, there was a shipping method. I picked Next Day. I paid like $5 or $6 more for next day, but I figured it was worth it.

Hey, I just noticed. I received my empeg on 8/28/2000. I received my tuner on 8/28/2001.

I guess my empeg needed a birthday present.

I think FedEx needs to have a system where they count the number of times you hit the tracking page/reload the page. If you are reloading the tracking status all day, they should give you a higher priority. Clearly you are very anxious to receive your package if you are checking so frequently.

Woohoo. Reminds me of waiting for my mk2 delivery..

That would be cool...though I'd see myself writing a script to keep hitting the page for me. I'd be get all my packages right away.

My tuner has been sitting on a truck the next town over (3 miles) for the last 3 hour and 45 mins. The anticipation is killing me yet again. As if work wasn't dragging long enough this week...

Drive FASTER damnit

No kidding. Mine is currently in Newark, NJ...close enought that I could drive and pick it up, though I bet it doesn't get here until tomorrow.

Argh.

Better yet, a GPS system so when you put the tracking number in, it shows you the exact location of the package on the earth. You could then know if the tuner is sitting in a box in a truck at the end of the street and can acost the FedEx driver for it. *jj*

Ringht, and so long as you're not Tom Hanks. I'm sure he would enjoy few Gigs of his favourite music down there....
I know I know: no electricity, no radio stations...

Today (Wednesday, August 29), my tuner arrived. Now I just have to get it into my car.

Side question: reading the instructions, I don't see any kind of 'list all the available stations in the area' or 'set this bank of presets to the ten strongest stations you can find' feature. Is something like that in there, or perhaps planned for a future release?

Coming from the U.S., I was blown away when I rented a car in Germany that automatically listed the call names of the stations it could find. I never had to worry about the station frequencies. Any hope of the empeg doing this?

And, any hope of U.S. radio stations broadcasting whatever sideband information the Europeans are using to make this happen?

Future software release.

It does this already. That's the RDS feature. Problem is that, at least in my area, only one of the multitude of available stations broadcasts this information.
