I bought a couple of something very similar to these, the electrician that installed them just used a really cruddy screw type connector like this and lots of insulation tape to connect into the lead coming out of the switch.

Is there a flat connector that can be unclipped if required that will neaten this job up? There's an 18mm gap between the wall and the back of the light fitting.

I'm thinking of something like this.

Is it 240V AC (i.e. LV) or DC, say less than 50V (i.e. ELV)? Assuming 3 wires means it's mains:

Terminal strip is pretty common for stuff like this in fluoro battens etc and commonly used in the industry for mains. The other choice is what we call a BP like this but still not a plug and socket.

Anything properly mains rated is likely to be too big I think. If it's mains why would someone be touching it and disconnecting it?

If it's just DC you have heaps of options

Managed to find this , haven't tried it yet but it should just about fit in the gap.

Looks OK. A bit hard to tell how polarised it is though. The pins look like the centre is slightly *off* centre, but the holes on the socket don't quite. It would be pretty dumb if it wasn't polarised some how though. BS rated is good too.
