To forestall the usual criticism, I make no claims of artistic merit for this photo, although technically it's... adequate. It's in focus, the color balance is OK, etc. By my standards, it's a snapshot, not a photograph. (This is a low-res reformat of the original.)

Clearly I did not have a 30-foot tall scaffold to stand on when I made the shot. I'm just wondering if there is some editing procedure I don't know about that can adjust the perspective in pictures like this so it will look like I was standing on a scaffold?

I think I recall seeing something for this in Photoshop once, as a cheap workaround for not owning a Tilt/Shift EOS lens. smile

EDIT: In CS3: Filter -> Distort -> Lens Correction -> Perspective/Angle.

Cheers

Yes. Every decent photo editor I've ever seen has a perspective correction feature.

To be honest, when I first saw the photo, I thought you were going to ask about the dark inverse-halo artifact in the sky around the left top side of the building. Not sure what caused that, but now I'm curious. Clearly something induced by the bright dome causing the sky around it to darken for some reason. I'm used to seeing subtle chromatic aberration in photo highlights, but this is something different than that that I've never seen (at least not so obviously), and I'm surprised by it.

Get yourself a copy of Adobe Lightroom, it's pretty cheap.

It has features built in for that kind of thing as well as being a pretty good way to catalogue and sort photos.

Tip for future photos would be to shoot stuff like that a bit wider, this gives you more room to pull the image around a bit.

Cheers

Maybe some sort of local exposure feature ? Looks like it is happening above the bright cloud on the right as well.

No, just sloppy image correction on my part. The original was a bit dark, and in the process of brightening it I cranked too much shadow out of it.

This is not the sort of picture I take any great care with in editing -- just a lick and a promise to make it look a bit better, then probably it will never be looked at again.

Here is the original, unprocessed image.

Doug, I always liked ACDSee for easy photo editing. You may like that as well. It is just as expensive as Lightroom, but, there's a free (and less feature rich) version that may still have a basic perspective correction feature. I am not sure but it is worth trying.

I find myself using both ACDSee Pro and Lightroom 5. They are both really worth the money, I think.
