Track paused at start up

When ever my player reboots the visual stops and track pauses on the last song played. The only way to get the song to start is skip to the next song or fast forward. The other weird thing I noticed is Emplode only seems to find the player over Ethernet after I skip or fast forward the song.
I even tried rebuilding the disk with Mark's Big Disk builder and his 2.01 software with hijack. After that used maxfid and fidsift.
Any ideas?

Good list of diagnostic steps to start with there, thanks. Especially the bit about how you ran the builder. (Take off and nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.)
Follow up questions:
1. Is it always the same song giving you the issue? Or is it all songs?
2. Did the problem only start happening after you ran MaxFid and FidSift, or did the problem happen before that?
3. What method is being used to reboot the player when this problem occurs? Does it also occur if you reboot using the Hijack menu option for restarting the player?
4. Are you using a customized Config.Ini file, and does the problem happen only after you put the custom Config.Ini back on the player after reformatting it?
5. When you ran it, the builder *did* format the hard disk completely, right, all the songs were gone and you had to re-synch them all, right?

Happens on any song the player ends on.
2. Did the problem only start happening after you ran MaxFid and FidSift, or did the problem happen before that?
The problem just started last week. Continues to happen after the complete rebuild and synch of songs.
3. What method is being used to reboot the player when this problem occurs? Does it also occur if you reboot using the Hijack menu option for restarting the player?
I have tried pulling the plug in home mode, pulling the dock when it is in the car, and using Hijack reboot in both modes.

The first time I ran it did not work right. It only recognized half the disk. Emplode only showed 128 of the 250 gigabytes. Had to format the drive using windows and use the builder again and all appeared normal.

new symptom. during the Emplode sync process Emplode hangs on the status it is on after the player reboots and won't finish until I use the skip or fast forward on the player. As soon as I do that and the track starts playing Emplode will finish synching.

Starting to think it was combination of things after reading a bunch of threads. removed a lot of music to free some fids and tried a synch but had same issue. Then manually rebuilt the database over serial. ran player -i command over serial. Then another sync with Emplode and it seems to be working fine at the moment.

Glad it's working for you again.
If it happens again, here are some suggestions of things to try: - Remove those visual favorites from the config.ini and see if the problem goes away. - If the problem doesn't go away, rebuild the player again if you're up for that (I know, it's a pain). - After rebuilding the player, don't run MaxFid and FidSift yet, and put only a couple of songs onto the player at fist, and see if the problem has gone away. - If the problem has gone away with only a couple songs, run MaxFid and FidSift with still only those couple of songs on the player. See if the problem comes back. - If the problem hasn't come back yet, then start adding songs to the player in groups, checking for the problem after each group, and find out at which point the problem comes back.

Thanks for the extra ideas. I think it had to do with reaching my fid limit. Any way to figure out the actual fid count on the player and compare it to what I have available?
