Last weekend I've did a disk-upgrade. I added a second hdd (toshiba 30GB) to the ibm 12 GB. Everything went fine, i had no errors or problems at all.
The only thing I had to do was jumpering the ibm as slave 'cause I couldn't find a description how to jumper the toshiba as slave (well - I think it has to be the same way. however....)
I totally deleted all songs and reorganized my playlists and then uploaded about 35GB to my Mk2.
Everything fine so far.

But yesterday in my car (where it already worked perfect with the two disks) I saw that it didn't want to boot. It stopped at the Logo-screen (with the custom logo). After 3 or 4 times pulling it out of the docking-bay and putting it back again it suddenly booted again as it did this morning. Seems to be fine again but I'm not sure if it doesn't appear again and what this could have been.

Anyone an idea? (I already thought about a loose ide-cable - but I'm pretty sure this can't be.)

Usual procedure: try to catch it not wanting to boot while logging serial output, then send the log to suppot and/or here. Might be something with long spin-up time.

Probably a loose jumper or a loose cable.

I think I was the first person to have this problem, since then it's happened a few times to others... Maybe my stupidity is contagious? hehe.. Anyway, I think it's a loose jumper as tfabris said. Refer to this thread for what my serial bootup info looked like when I had this problem. If yours looks similar in the recognition of your drives, then your jumper is probably loose. Mine took two weeks to work itself a bit loose. I used some artfully applied electric tape to keep mine on, and it's been cool ever since. Or maybe get a jumper that is a better fit, there are different shapes and sizes out there.
