Here

Doesn't say but it has a single dimm that can be upped to 2gb presuming the OS will support it. Which Win7 starts appears to not support.

edit: If you go into a store, be prepared to ask for it, they're not putting them on the shelves.

Hmmm.....would that handle streaming from Netflix?

I bought one for my grand neice's bday next month.

When I setup all the defaults, I saw a Netflix icon on the desktop. I don't have a Netflix account so I didn't try.

I did try to display some YouTube videos. 720 and 1080 were choppy. Unwatchable in my opinion. 480p was a-ok.

Given that the display is only 1024x600, trying to show hd seems pointless.

More info.

Given the price you should know it's a stripped model.

No bluetooth
No 3G
Only 1g ddr2 but replaceable, some of these models are not socketed. Typically those with the display using shared ram.
3 cell battery good for maybe as much as 4 hrs run time.

There are other batteries available to double (6 cell) or triple (9 cell) that.

The touchpad seems strange after getting used to the macbook's. It dose have some rudimentary gestures, but they aren't friendly.

That's acer's product page. You might have trouble getting to it. I think the Office Max add today is generating a lot of interest.

It said the netflix icon I saw was only a web shortcut.

$199 is inexpensive, but buying it with the idea of loading it with more ram, swapping the wireless card for one with bluetooth...

Better buying one of the other versions that have those items already.

It didn't have flash loaded on it, or maybe that was just the flash plugin for FF that was missing.

Assuming you meant "Windows 7 Starter", this page on MSDN would appear to disagree with you. Win7 Starter supports 2GB.

720p (considered HD) in North America is only 1280x720, so that's not far off.

Bluetooth costs about $2 from DX. RAM is pretty cheap, too.

It depends on the quality, but I wouldn't be surprised if it could.

If there's any issue with HD playback, then add a CrystalHD decoder card to the internal PCIe slot (possibly displacing the wifi card in favour of a USB wifi solution).

Cheers

BLECH! Stay away from the Aspire One. There's a reason it's cheap.

I've got one here on my desk as part of testing some software, and it's the most annoyingly slow PC I've ever used. Every. Single. Thing. About. It. Is. Slow.

Which version? The One comes in about a hundred different spec combinations.

Probably the one running Win7. Put Linux onto it instead, and things will be much snappier.
