Though my MkII was my faithful companion in my station wagon, sadly years ago (About 6 or 7) the wagon had to be put down.
The MkII sat in my closet until recently.
So I've dusted it off, installed 2.01, the latest Hijack. Remembered that my IDE cable was suffering from a bad crimp, fixed that, and then remembered my knob was of the "needs replacement" variety.
Sadly, no amount of software de-jumping will make the knob usable.
So. I know I can get a new knob, and I know my soldering skills are of no use for such small componentry.
Is Eutronix still functioning?
Can I send my Empeg in for repair of the knob?
Can I get them to do a lighted buttons install, and are tuners still available from them?
How about docking sleds?
I wouldn't mind a "Full-Meal-Deal" upgrade.
Larger disks I will handle myself.
After dusting off my Empeg, I can't believe I went for so long without one, and the fact I've used iPods in my vehicles. Wow. Even after all these years, the Empeg is still one awesome unit.
I would love to install the Empeg into my Dodge Pickup, and possibly my Jeep, though the Jeep install will require more shock isolation, and a waterproof housing as well.
Honestly, I can't believe that 10+ year old technology still beats the pants off "modern" technology.
Here's to another 10 years!!
