Is Google using GeoIP to target our search results?

Try for yourself:
1. Log off of iGoogle, etc and go to the google homepage.
2. Do a search for: tuition remission
3. Reply with the first four domains in the results.

Articles at my local universities can't be the world's most popular results on this topic. Anyone else see examples of GeoIP affecting results?

The next school domain is:

• www.hr.duq.edu (489 mi)

There are a number of other schools that are within 25 miles. Five at least.

I get similar results to Bitt but I'm in the UK so it may not work.

Google and other search engines already do a limited form of geo location in redirecting you to your country specific version of their search engines. I wouldn't be surprised if they did add this feature anyway.

Using Google.com through Safari search bar or directly on google.com's page:

Seems inconclusive to me.

I get the same list, regardless of whether I'm signed in, or out.

Thanks. I just find those results interesting. Google Juice is sometimes bestowed in mysterious ways.
