Here's an idea I had last night:

What if I painted my Mark Lord dock white? I'd need a white fascia/handle/buttons. And what other consumer device that we love (hate?) was white?

Many empegs are becoming home devices, so why not adopt the luscious, silky, reflective look like our MP3 playing brethren.

Picture it:

• glossy, seamless surface with flush screen
• back-painted, never-wear finish
• five different colors
• clean lines, soft edges
• teardrop buttons
• variable lens color with gels

Heck, if it's really going to be done right, the buttons and knob should be integrated, flush, non-moving and touch sensitive. Turn the thing off and it's a wash of white.

So, what do you think? Anyone with 3D skill want to help me visualize it?

Another idea:

With the right lens design, you could probably magnify the VFD. Some concave/convex action.

Well, the nice thing about completely docked use (at home), is that no handle is required. So remove the handle, fascia, etc and replace it all with a nice seamless thing.

Sounds great (and easy!).
