I installed the 1.0.3 Beta and found that it complained about my slightly under volting power supply.

I have a sled in my office hooked up to a computer power supply that is giving between 10.5 and 11V while this worked before, although I did have a mysterious problem with it not saving my current state to the flash, now with 1.0.3 Beta it shows the battery icon all the time. Well actually since it was doing this I went in search of a better power supply and I am currently running it off of the home power supply (any suggestions?)

I read in the forums that there was a routine that checked for under volting every 5 sec or so and displayed the battery icon. Has this behavior changed? It was rumored that the behavior was going to be different in future software releases

I'm not getting any battery icon bugs in 1.03. Perhaps this new software release is just showing you that you've had a power problem all along?

Also: Did you recently add a second hard disk? When I added a second hard disk to my Mark 2, it drew more current when both drives would spin up, and my previously-OK power supply was suddenly inadequate.

Right- perhaps this is not a "bug" but a feature new to 1.0.3

I have not added a new HD, but as I said before I may have had an undervolt condition before but the icon did not show up.

What is the correct wattage requirement for the MK II?

According to Hugo's quote in the FAQ, it needs between 12v and 16v continuous, and during disk spinup it needs 1a at 12v.

Theres quite a few changes to the power code in the kernel, including debug messages. You should be able to hook a serial cable up and see why it's happening. According to the code, the limit is 10v. Anything higher and the powerfail state shouldn't be on.
