For skiing or snowboarding (or cycling). A camera that either has USB on it, or takes SD cards. It should be lightweight, hence a separate battery pack (to be kept in the wearer's backpack).

Alternatively, a USB-connected (and -powered) helmet-cam that can be plugged into a netbook in the backpack.

Ideas?

You might want to check out jonescam.tv -- their cameras have a separate battery pack. Not USB, though. They just plug into whatever recording setup you have (that takes video in). They sell a DVR that can record onto SD cards. It's a bit pricey, though... $1100.
