Well, in this post: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_message/27705487#27705487They mention that some channels are not encrypted (for now) Quote: Ter info, deze kanalen zijn momenteel onversleuteld:
Animal Planet, ARD, BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC World, Cartoon Network, CNN, Digital Demo, E!, Ketnet/Canvas, MTV, Nederland 1, Nederland 2, Nederland 3, Net 5, RTL 4, RTL 5, RTL 7, SBS 6, Testbeeld, Tien, TMF, Travel Channel, TRT, TV5, TVE, UPC on Demand, UPC Showchannel, Veronica, VRT, WDR, ZDF
Maybe dvb-t (digitenne by kpn) is an option? It's encrypted too though, except for ned 1,2 and 3 i think.

Just wonder how long even the basic channels will stay unencrypted. I think satellite is my best choice...

I do not want to hijack this this thread but, I am having a problem. I am in the process of backing up all my DVD's. I figure this is the best way to keep them from getting ruined over time. I put the original away and watch the copy. I use DVD Shrink as well as DVD Decrypter. Lately I have been having a real problem on most Sony DVD's of recent(last two years). The Sony DVD's do not like to play nice with either software. They keep erroring out. Does anyone have a fix for this? It is getting real annoying. I believe it was Mlord that said that Casino Royale(New Version copies just fine) I am batting like .050 with Sony DVD's.

When I encounter a difficult DVD, I fire-up RipIt4Me. Hasn't failed me yet and uses all the programs you're already familiar with.

Is this a standalone program, or some kind of under-the-hood enhancement for the other programs, or what? The FAQ really doesn't explain the obvious to me.
Here, I use DVDFab-Platinum (payware) for rip/unprotect of DVDs.

Ah the "guide" does explain it. It's a wrapper for DVDDecrypter and pals.

Quote: Anyone want a Samsung Hauppauge PVR-500, cheap?
Do you still have that card?
I'm thinking about adding some tuners, and would have to pay extra per month for an extra smartcard if i wanted too add them digital. Is that card NTSC only? Or would it work overhere with PAL too? If it can do PAL i'd like to have a go with it. How cheap? Would it be worth it with shipping added?

I'm pretty sure the card I have here is NTSC only.

By the way, i just found this: Quote:
Ivtv developers have noted that the Samsung tuners used in later PVR 500s are rather sensitive and will show a grainy picture if supplied with too high a signal level. In this case you must reduce signal strength by either inserting a 'pad' (a resistor) between the PVR and the cable, or if your house has a cable amplifier, by reducing the gain on the amplifier.
in the mythtv wiki: http://mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_PVR-500
