Anyone one fancy one of these as my father after building one of these for me would be willing to make a few more and sell them on

Wow! That is AWESOME. Is there an Empeg docking sled buried in there? Does the Empeg "know" it's on home power? Someone had made a home-box solution but I didn't like it because it used the docking sled and the Empeg acted as if it was on DC power.

I am interested... what price will you be asking?

okay i'm afraid that as to the unit knowing where it is i just use the home power unit plugged into the rear of the empeg and just the two phono plugs into the back of empeg. The empeg fits into a ordinary cage but the cables have been removed from the rear. At the moment you just have to plug in the two cables and then slide in the unit. It could be altered to allow you to slide it in and use the plug at the back of the cage.
That way the empeg knows it is at home

all cables are hidden in the back leg and my father would be easily able to alter wood sizes and number of shelves etc.

As to price that would be about the same coss as a normal hi fi stand but he would be selling the so prices as over to him

here is another pic to wet your appitite

Well, I am definitely interested. It'd be nice if it could be rigged up so the Empeg just slid in without having to reach back and plug things in, but that might be more difficult than it seems. Keep us posted!

You should be able to "rig" a way up (as others I believe have done) so that you can mount the RCA cables in the correct position in the rear of the docking sled (as well as the power and ethernet) so that when you slide the unit in, all connections are made. Cutting the metal loom will more than likely be a requirement, but I don't see it as in impossible task.

I know that others have created home consoles for their empegs. Whether or not they are using the wiring harnass or if they did what I said above, I don't remember.. But I don't see it as too far-fetched an idea.

okay folks for those that are intrested my father can be reached at juneallison@bun.com

There is about 230 pounds worth of materials etc in the stand but final selling price would be down to him. If a few people want them he will probably make a small batch of them in his workshop.

One change that would be made ina futre stand is that it would be a little bit wider as there was a small boo boo in the measurements for this one

Here it is in its final resting place

It looks good!
But, I think I would want it in dark wood.
You can "register me as interrested", but I
won't be actually ordering until about september, as
I'm moving to Denmark.

I made my own home bay (certainly not a fancy as this) and made the connections in the following way:

Removed the sled connector.
Cut a piece of ply to the same dimensions as the back of the sled.
Screwed it to the back of the sled with connector screws.
Cut a Bic pen cartridge in half exposing some oozing ink.
Pushed the non oozing side onto the power pin on the empeg
Gently slid the empeg in produce a nice inky dot exactly where my hole for the power cable needed to be.
Repeated for the RCA inputs. (A bic insert has exactly the right internal and external dimensions for RCA and power)
"Stretched" the external conductors of the RCAs to give a looser fit)
Removed ply backboard and drilled holes just larger than the connectors.
Replaced backboard, pushed connectors through holes.
Slide in the empeg and make all connections.
Covered the outside of the connectors in epoxy to hold them in place.
Waited 1 hour for epoxy to dry.

Voila !
Slides in perfectly every time.

The back plate can just be unscrewed if required so that I can add USB, serial, ethernet at a later date.
