My new track FINALLY got posted at http://mp3.com/quank!! It took about 3 weeks to get approved. I guess they were just busy, but I was really worried that it wouldn't get approved because I use some Natalie Wood samples. If anyone is into drum and bass or trip-hop, please give it a listen. I don't make any money off of my music or ads or anything, I just want to know what you guys think. It'd be cool to know that my song was on some fellow empegs!
The track is called "Turn It Off Mother!" 12gig Mk. II BLUE

Thanks guys! Let me know what you think of them, I am still "learning" how to do this stuff. I'm from Detroit, and the electro scene is growing, but considering that techno started here, there is no appreciation for it! If anyone else has any tracks, i'd love to have some other "empeg-owner" tracks! :)
Thanks again!
PS - I am really worried about people thinking I am posting this for some sort of profit. I am just doing this for fun and have only made a few $$ from when family members and friends ordered CD's. I don't get anything if people download my tracks, except for some sort of accomplishment! :)

If you've got enough space, you can put them all on there! :) (jk)
So how are you liking that thing? You are a beta tester right?
About the empeg: I've had this thing for almost 4 months now and every day I am more impressed with it. I've never had a peice of gear that haa kept its "new" fun status so long! Now, if I can just get it to crossfade while playing the root playlist.... :)

hugo:why wouldnt i want it anymore?
se_sport_driver:I love this thing. I don't get the cool visuals of the empeg but I get a small cartridge to take out instead of the entire headunit to replenish mp3s. Sound quality is great too. This thing plays, wav and mp3(and org vorbis too i thinK) so i put in a wav and a 192k mp3 to see if i could tell the difference in sound quality...i couldn't. Only difference was the time and space it took up on the hard drive :) I can't wait till this damn beta is over so I can really talk about it. I'm bound by a confidentiality agreement. Plus I want to swap out this 5gb hdd for a 36gb.

We better have our chance here on the bbs to fight over last minute changes if this is a Mark 3 :-)

Hmmmmmm, this sounds interesting. What could it be? I doubt its the announcement of the new player like suggested above, maybe that 1.1 is nearing compleation? Come on - now i'm curious.

From the press release:
The deal [acquisition of empeg] will allow Rio to immediately leverage empeg’s car and home MP3 player technology to provide an array of automotive solutions. Rio plans to introduce empeg’s current product to U.S consumers, distributing it widely under the Rio brand in coming months, and intends to develop a wider range of future Rio car products using resources in both the U.S. and Europe.
One product does not an array make.

Just caught St. Germain here in Detroit last night... any St. Germain fans on the board?
Going to see The Orb on Saturday as well....
This photo is from last year's Detroit Electronic Music Festival. They expected 30,000 people and over 1,000,000 showed up..

if you guys have made the MK3 and not told us, i think i'll cry a lot.
or maybe there is more than just one option for the player, or an add-on?

I better clean up before this gets too much out of hand.
As rob said One product does not an array make.
I was just joking about the Mark 3 part. It will definitly be interesting to see what comes from empeg in the following months.

I think the key word is "range" - the Mk.2A Rio Car is still very much a current product. I'm going to shut up now before I get in trouble :)

Greetings!
From all of the previous discussion, I think the empeg car / RioCar is still intended to be the audiophile, "top of the line" product. I would expect that Rio / SB / Empeg would be targeting new products to fit the lower cost niche that the Neo 35 has. Probably something with a much lower price point, but without the features or extendability we enjoy so much! By pure speculation [ read this as "guess" ], I would think it would be a single 3.5" hard drive, no shock mount, no developer kernal applicance with the playlist features of the empeg car, but not as much "intelligence" [ no search, no developer kernal, no add-on applications, probably everything in ROM or firmware, no emplode - just Windows folders, no linux support, etc. Rob - can you tell me if I am close??? :) ]
Also, I would think that any new and expanded features would be added on the RioCar / empeg car first, and would then be fitted into the later releases [ or more probably new models ] of the lower end product as they became cheaper to implement. Meaning that we would probably be the first to see any new "fun toys" that the folks at Empeg Ltd. are working on. If you already own an empeg car / Rio Car, I would guess that the new product would actually be a step down - cheaper, but less functionality.
Just a guess... Comments???

Rob did in fact drop a hint at the last Amersfoort meet that something was happening. I swore blind not to reveal anything, of course.
You could always come along to the next Amersfoort meet at the end of May just in case Rob decides to bring a "special demo" along with him.... One of the few remaining Mk1 owners... #00015

you're just saying this
Remember that it was at the *first* Amersfoort meeting that empeg went public with the new remote, t-shirts, and new emplode capabilities; and Frank showed his first player hack. Rio-empeg (and Frank will have a tradition to maintain . . . Henno

Glad to hear they finally got going on that thing, was checking it out last year when they said it would be out Summer well that didn't happen looks like this Summer maybe huh, so I checked out the empeg & bought one. I was under the impression it was a cartridge not a hdd in the reader. They need to get their head unit compatibility list up every time I check it no list. Of course that's no worry there w/my empeg.
