We installed a PCA memory board in an MK2A. We noticed some pieces of copper annular ring around the test pad holes peeling off almost immediately. This seemed odd as this had never happened on any other PCA memory board we have done despite using the same low wattage, low temp iron for at most 5 seconds at a time. We didn't see any disconnects between the traces and the rings on top, so we forged ahead. We booted up the MK2A and only got 16 MB. So we went another round of 'stirring' to try to establish a connection to the test pads. We got 48 MB. We checked the DIP settings and verified that the RA3 line was properly installed and went to stir the holes a third time. Upon boot we got a RAM fault and prefetch vector message. Has anyone seen this before and been able correct it (boot log attached)?
My fear is that one or more memory board PCB annular rings has failed underneath where it can't be seen. It seems as though this memory board PCB was defective from the start as some of the rings peeled off very easily.
We would like to save both the Empeg and the memory board, but at this point it is looking like the memory board will have to be scrapped. This is very frustrating because we have always gotten the memory boards to work.
Thanks for any advice,
Stu
