What sort of lossless compression can an EMPEG do?, (for those that still aren't convinced VBR MP3 is good enough) for occasional use at car audio competitions eg. I know you can store .wav files, but can it play any other types?

The current (1.02) software version will play MP3 and MP2 files. The upcoming version 1.1 will also play WAV and WMA files. As various new file formats become popular, they will add those capabilities to the player.

Forget it. IASCA has taken the stand that only the original IASCA source CD can be used in competition. (Pick up this thread for further discussion on this issue.)

I can understand why they must do this -- they want to judge who has the best car audio reproduction system, not who has the best digital remastering facilities.
