Mark and Hugo mentioned they were both going to be in town, any one else up for a meet up? I was out of town all last week, so I'm fighting fires with various clients this week, but wednesday and thursday night are still good for me.

Possible geek activities: indoor kart racing, geocaching, beer drinking, Weird Stuff visit, the obligatory Frys visit, hiller avaiation musem, breaking & entering at the googleplex, consuming sushi, semicon west, breaking & entering at One Infinite Loop, chinese food in Santa Cruz or ?

If you're interested, post what days work for you and what your preferences are.

Matthew

I'm up for almost all of those

Never been to the Hillier place, despite often driving past on the 101, it looks interesting - Wierdstuff is always good from the entertainment perspective, though the size of my suitcase limits how many sgi boxes I can realistically take home!

Semicon west might be hard for me to swing given that I'm in work, but exhibitions are always fun if only for the swag.

I can do Wednesday night -- flying out on Thursday.

Anything is fine, hopefully not too far away from San Jose -- I'm staying beside the airport (Wyndham club level, very nice), and have a rental car.

Cheers

Darn, I think we will still be up in Napa on Wednesday,
only coming down to the Bay on Thursday (planning to
spend the night in Santa Cruz)

I'm down for a meetup. Will watch the thread and try to meet up wherever y'all decide.

Wednesday is great for me.
Thursday is not so good, but I might be able to swing it if we have to.

Weird Stuff would be way cool, except their posted (internet) hours seem to exclude evenings... I hit Frys Sunnyvale today -- but repeat visits are always good for an appetizer. Anything coastal would be great, or just getting together for feasting is fine too.

Matthew --> you are the local, so pick something/somewhere in the Valley, and let's run with it. It has to be decided tonight (Tuesday).

Cheers

Hmm, we should pick something around San Mateo or Burlingame, as the City People don't tend to venture too far from the city. Unfortunatly, I don't know a whole lot of stuff in that region. I'd be tempted by the indoor kart racing in burlingame, but it may not appeal to everyone. We'd still need a place for food afterwards, and that's where I'm at a loss.

Perhaps nola's would be a good place? I could only make a reservation for 5 at 7:45 online. I can call tomorrow to make sure we can add a few more people, it doesn't seem like the kind of place that would really mind.

Anyone else have a better idea of the restaurants on the peninsula?

On my list so far: Me, Mark, Hugo, Jon, Loren, Music.

Cool. Thanks for dealing with the reservations. I have a previous meeting I'm supposed to attend that I totally forgot about, local paragliding club thing, but I'm trying to get out of it. Not sure yet. Will advise!

I take it that means Cajun Food but no Kart-ilage.
Perhaps we can do crazy go-karts another time.
Count me in for the blackened whatever-fish, gumbo, and beignets.

And there was cider later, too

Apologies for completely forgetting to read the board for two days... I'm just hungrier than I would have been if I'd arrived when I was supposed to!

Good to see everyone!

I had a great time.

Maybe after Hugo moves out here permanently, we can do it again -- but with go-karts!

And if Mark becomes a semi-regular visitor, we can time it for his next visit as well....
