I just bought a new computer and it doesnt have any serial ports for me to connect my empeg to. I have the latest software version and hijack installed on my player from when I had my last computer. I now have no way of connecting to my new computer. Any ideas? I thought having the newest software and hijack remedied this problem and was supposed to allow people to connect to the ethernet without having to use the serial first.

The "about" menu on the player (front panel) should show the IP address it is using. This may help in your efforts.

Also how the Empeg is connected to the computer. If Empeg is connected straight to the pc, a cross-over cable is needed. If via a hub/switch, straight ethernetcables are needed.

Hijack doesn't do anything special with allowing you to connect via ethernet.

You don't need to connect via Serial first, if the empeg and the computer are at the default settings (both obtaining an IP address automatically).

More troubleshooting steps can be found here.
