Greetings!

I'd like to announce that next Saturday, January 14th, there will be a mini empeg meet for all those in the DC area (and anyone who wants to drive a bit). It will be held somewhere in the northern VA area, most likely in the Tysons Corner area. This is mainly because Rob R, who is the man, is helping me upgrade my Tivo. Since he's in the area, I figured this would be a good time to see what kind of showing we can get from empeg folk in the region.

This will be very informal, and as of yet I don't have a clear idea of what it will entail. I suppose we could find a restaurant somewhere with a decent parking lot for checking out installations. Then we can get something to eat (for lunch or dinner, preferably dinner). There's a great Persian restaurant, but I don't know how many people are into that. I am up for suggestions on any part of this plan.

I was there last week, but won't be back for a while. Bummer. Maybe next time I'm up we can get together. My in-laws live in Upper Malboro, MD, so I'm up that way pretty often during the holidays.

Wow, Rob. Looks like a massive amount of interest! Well, anyone who wants to come can shoot me an email or PM and let me know they're interested.

And if it's just us two, Rob, then I guess we can definitely go to that restaurant. My girlfriend is Persian, so she definitely knows what she's doing there

I am interested. I live in Arlington. I'm not sure how I can juggle the schedule, though with various other commitment, but what time would it be at?

Maybe I should bring my poor board with me to see what the rest make of it. A Tale of Woe, indeed.

I would like to come, finally meet some empeg guys

Well, we'll be a small group, but that's what a mini meet is like I'm looking forward to meeting anyone who can attend.

Here's what I'm thinking for a schedule:

Saturday, January 14th 2006:

5:00 - Meet at Cooper Middle School in McLean, VA

• There really aren't any good places to meet in an open parking lot that are near the restaurant. This school is right off the beltway, so I figured it'd be an easy place for people to get to. And it's not a long drive from the restaurant anyway. Google for some reason has the school located too far down the road, but you can see it to the right of that spot. Lets just meet in the parking lot in front.

6:00 - 7:00 - Eat dinner

• I'm just going to go ahead and suggest the Persian restaurant we've been talking about. I promise it's delicious. The kabobs are amazing.

If anyone would like to change anything, just let me know. It's flexible.

Thanks to Rob and Randy for a nice dinner! Randy is a lurker and the three of us compared installs (well, two installls and Randy's 100GB player with 12K tracks). We then ate at the Persian restaurant I mentioned and I think a good time was had by all.

And a special thanks to Rob for his help getting my Tivo fully hacked and now set to store over 260 hours of TV (all of which can be extracted!). He has the process down pat, and has a cool rig for the procedure.

Hopefully sometime in the future there will be a larger meet in this area or somewhere/sometime that I'll be able to attend. I'd like to meet more empeg folk. Here's hoping that it won't be as snowy as it was this time!

crap! i stop reading posts for one lousy week and i missed this! well nice to know there are some other empeggers in the area anyway.

Sorry we missed you! Hopefully there will be one in this region that a bunch of people will be able to get to easily. As much as I'd love to go to SF or Cambridge, I don't think it's feasible for me at this point Driving would be much better.
