Whenever I try and install Logoeditor I get a manufacturers code not found message. Any idea what this means?

Please be more specific.
Do you get the error message when you try to install Logoedit? If so, please describe exactly how you're installing logoedit.
Do you get the error message when you try to install Hijack USING logoedit? If so, please paste all text from the screen into a message here.
In the meantime, I will assume the latter and will look for that text in the upload.exe code.

Okay, if the text is... Quote: found empeg unit: entering program mode Error: Couldn't find manufacturer ID!
Then the problem is with the serial connection.
I'd say a bad serial cable, or something wrong with the serial port on the computer in question. Try installing it from a friend's computer, and troubleshoot the serial connection by trying this.

I checked the serial cable using the directions in your post and everything came up like I had the developer software but Im unsure what to do after this considering I cannot seem to get a connection anywhere else.

When I run Logoedit, after selecting the port and choosing the kernal flash utility is when Im receiving the cannot find manufacturer id message. I do not have hijack installed. I am getting the message when I click on the .zimage file. I have also tried to reinstall the firmware and it cannot locate my player. I get the following message when trying to upgrade the firmware: Error "Car player not found. Check your serial connection and ensure that hyperterminal (or similar) is closed" occurred during stage 0x00
When I checked the serial port in Hyperterminal this is what I got on my screen

Very odd.
So in hyperterminal, can you control the player by typing commands? For instance, can you press N <enter> and it will go to the next track?
If you can do that, but logoedit doesn't communicate properly with the player at such an early stage in the kernel image process, then I'm rather stumped. It should Just Work.
I believe that I and others have suggested as many as three times now, in two different threads, to try doing the work on a friend's PC, i.e., a computer with a different serial port. Did you ever get around to trying that?

OK I installed HiJack but I cannot control the player in Hyperterminal. Im also getting the error message described in my last other posts. I also tried installing emphatic and jemplode and cannot get either one to work and there are no instructions on using them on their sites. I cannot type commands in hyperterminal. When I connect this is what Im getting:

Quote: OK I installed HiJack but I cannot control the player in Hyperterminal.
Sometimes you can't send commands to the player unless you've power cycled after starting hyperterminal. Try this.
1. Unplug the power to the player. 2. Start Hypterterminal and connect to the player via the serial port. 3. Plug in the power to the player. 4. Use the front panel to select a playlist on the player. If any error messages appear, make sure to clear them. 5. From hypterterminal, press N <enter> and see if it switches to the next track.

No. That is a normal message and it refers only to an onscreen menu.

That's because you have your terminal settings wrong: you should have it set with No Handshaking.

Yeah, what Rob said. It's critical that you set the terminal settings correctly, exactly according to the screen shots here.
