On a random, slightly related note: I recently saw a "Jaguar owners magazine" which, since there can't be THAT much to talk about with only a half dozen cars in your product line, was discussing the sound of their pretty kitties. It went to great glossy lengths to say and show photos of how engineers specifically tune the components, and even the bare metal to give it "exhilarating sonic qualities."
If this were any other decade (before the Ford takeover), I'd say, "The engineers were too busy making the doors slam at 335 hZ and couldn't bother to prevent electrical system from daily meltdown." Or, "The engineers wanted every squeek in the chasis to be in the same key."
I still want a pre-2006 XK8 (XKR??), even if it is a Ford with perfectly harmonic upper strut bars.
