Greatings

I have had simular problems with emplode prior to the disk upgrade, but never this persistant. Emplode stops transferring files and the program halts when syncronizing with the player.

This is what I have done to the player so far:

Took out the two IBM disks (20GB each)
Installed the two new WD600 disks (60GB each)
Installed the builder image
Installed the developer image on both disks

Everyting went well - no errors at all, thanks to the great FAQ.

Hooked the player up to my home network.
Fired up emplode and started moving files.

I did not do any copying from the old disk. ICE I can just mount the old disks and all will be back to normal (wich I'm close to be doing).

Emplode crashed after six, seven minutes. The error message is: 'the length of playlist..' etc. on all the files I try to transfer.

I did a physical check on the cables, the solderings, the cables again, and all seems to bee in working order.

I installed the builder image and the developer image one more time, with the same results - emplode halts.

I then installed the Hijack - the hope was that this would solve the problems. It did not.

Any thing I can do here?

There have been reports of problems with emplode when trying to move too many playlists to the player at once. (Remember that a windows folder counts as a playlist when putting fresh stuff on the player.) Try doing your uploads to the player in small batches. See if that works, then report back.

Thank you - I have done som research. Now working

I now move one folder at a time. I didn't move that many folders earlier, but this seems to work better. I also make sure there are no filetypes other than mp3 in the folders I move. Emplode tells me if there are files not compatible, but it seems that also was a problem - no errors so far.

Beeing a novice on this subject (still after being an empeg owner since fall 2000), it was fearly easy to change disks. Now I can fill it up will ALL my music!

Still having problems syncronizing. If I move one or two albums at a time, it's usually ok. Moving three or more is a risky business. And emplode does not try to reload the files. I have to work my way through all the files and start syncing over again from where emplode stopped working.

Is it possible to have the empeg appeare as a drive letter in windows so I can just move the files that way?

I tried the FTP function, but that's not for moving music files, is it?

Okay. Something really weird is going on. You are doing your sync via ethernet today. Are you going through any kind of switch / hub? Can you try directly connecting the player to the computer via a crossover cable? Also, the player only supports 10Mbps - some switches / hubs / cards left to autonegotiate have a really hard time doing so.

No.

Correct.

The problems you're experiencing indicate something else is going wrong. Perhaps something wrong with the hard disk, or with the network connection. See if you can upload with USB (after reading this).

Also, are you absolutely sure you used the builder image properly? For instance, if there was already data on the disk, it would say "disk appears to be already built" and require you to press Enter on the serial port before it formats the disk. And if there are two disks, did you run builder twice, once with each disk in the primary slot?
