I tried searching the faq but...

I want to move my 2 drives (10 and 20gb) from my mark 2 and put them in my mark 2a because the mark 2 is stuck in ac mode and I think I need to ship it off to be repaired.

I tried this last year figuring it would be a simple swap (not!) and I got the ol' 'Drive not found' thing. My question is: do I just have to do the normal 'drive upgrade' or is there any way to avoid that hassle?

It really should be as simple as unplugging from one empeg and plugging into the other since Mk2 and Mk2A firmware/player etc are all the same.

About the only thing I could see messing up is if you swap master/slave on the drives and the second drive doesn't have player software installed.

As long as you don't change anything it should just work (tm).

Posting a boot log would be the first thing to do I'd say.

A possibility is that on the primary drive you may have inserted the cable off by one pin. That is surprisingly easy to do.
