Hurdy Gurdy Man anyone?

Obviously the trick is to randomly choose two words out the dictionary. A friend of mine at school was in a band called ReTrO SoL (note careful capitalization).

A hurdy-gurdy is an instrument akin to combination of a grind organ, only in that it uses a crank to play, a violin, in that it's a bowed string instrument, the bow being attached to the crank and not a separate device, and a bagpipe, in that it has drones, albeit more strings instead of pipes. Seems perfectly reasonable for a music act to refer to one.

On the other hand, the song you're referring to, performed by the Butthole Surfers, was written by Donovan and seems to have nothing to do with hurdy-gurdies.

I'm sure my first post wasn't the best in the world but I came back and added (I hope!) better ones The board needs to be kept alive with more and more people disappearing so who cares that his first post was a plea for a vote - its not as if he posted porn links. Maybe if he's not totally put off he'll come back.

Most lurkers actually register, even if they don't post, it's the only easy way to keep track of read posts. The guy registered a couple of minutes before posting, as far as I'm concerned it's spam. I checked his registration details before I slagged him off in my first reply.

I voted for another band, I'd recommend everybody else does the same.

Band name aside and non-voting aside, has anyone listened to the music?

Icarni, just so you know, this BBS is specifically for owners of MP3 player products made by the empeg and Rio companies. We're a closely-knit group who share common interests, and even meet personally from time to time. If someone comes in and posts *only* about an unrelated thing, we get suspicious.

However, if you're genuinely interested in participating in this community, we are a friendly and welcoming bunch and would be happy to have you. There are other members of this BBS who aren't owners of the aforementioned products, but who participate regularly.

It's just that the first impression you made was to drop a single spam message. So it instantly puts us on the defensive. If you can show that you have something to contribute to this forum, we'll be able to get past that first impression.
