Is it possible to burn to cd a streaming audio file? I have three streaming audio files saved in Real Player but when I try to put the files into the cd burner of Real audio Real audio shuts down. I've tried right clicking on the file to "save as" but that option doesn't appear. Here is the file and it's info:

You'd be better off saving the stream live as a wave file and burning that. Many apps are available for this. I use Creative Recorder that came free with my sound card.

Ok I understand but when I go to the website and click the streaming media link this what it says at the top of the page "ALL STREAMING MEDIA REQUIRES THE USE OF REAL AUDIO PLAYER" can I still save it as a wav file when playing it live using Real Player?

Just play it as normal with real player - you can record at the same time.

Ok thanks but one more thing how do I go about that? I've never tried it with streaming audio.

Well while the file is playing I start up Creative Recorder and select the 'Record what You Hear' option and click record. It then records whatever your playing at the time. I'm not sure though if its availablev for free download. Maybe someone here can recommend other SW?

Yes - both at the same time. Best to start recording before you play the real player file so you don't chop off the start

Its probaly best to go for the 'wave' option rather than 'what you hear'. That way you can still use the pc and the mouse clicks won't be recorded too!

I found something through download.com called sound capture I'm going to try it now but if have any other alternatives let me know. Thanks!

I was able to create a wav file from that link in about 10 minutes using a program called X-fileget and this technique .Let me know if you need more info.

When I want to save a media stream (e.g. lectures from MIT) I use NetTransport (also serves as very good general-purpose download manager; the most recent version is shareware, but one can still find 1.87, which was free). If I then want to archive them, I simply use any old CD-ROM burning SW (like Nero or anything), or even built-in XP functionality.

Of course, I then need the app they were originally intended for in order to listen/watch them, so perhaps this is not an answer to your question

Net transport seems much better than the program I was using.It was able to download the stream that the other program couldn't
