Can anyone recommend an ipod car kit? It needs to be FM transmitter based as the HU is in the car is MiniDisc. This is for my g/f as she has decided she'd rather have an ipod than a karma, sacrilege I know......

I have the Monster FM transmitter/cig ligher power adapter. It sucks and, from what I've read, it's one of the better ones. I recommended finding some way to hardwire it. Does her HU support a CD changer? If so, then there is almost certainly an adapter for the iPod.

I don't think it's worth bothering to do with an FM transmitter. But, if you must, then get one that lets you put in any station because, at least in my area, it's very hard to find an open frequency. None of the 8 that are on the Monster work very well around here.

What Dylan said, or get an antenna-inline FM modulator. These work much better than the over-the-air types.

I have an itrip and one of those cupholder suction cup things. Works in everything but the phaeton, and moves easily. I won't bitch, it was a freebie from VW.

Of course, neither of them fit my new bling bling mini.

Yes it's for her Punto, although it would be rather amusing to listen to the ipod via the FM tuner in empeg.

The stuff was ordered on Wednesday, the one thing I would say is the speed Apple seems to work at is remarkably slow. When you drop a grand on something it would be nice to have some instant gratification. Apparently it could take up to two weeks to arrive.

In case you're not aware of it, FM transmitters are illegal in the UK. Not that you're likely to get caught using it in a car, but it is very likely to affect the radio in the car next to you at the traffic lights.

I'm not sure if wired-in FM systems are legal, I'd suspect not.

I was looking through some bookmarks and came across GNUnilink again. Looks like I'll use that.

The car was totalled. The housewhore who hit me only had $10,000 worth of property damage insurance on her $50K tard cart, so I've taken a major beating on my insurance bills lately, as my premium got raised on all 6 of my cars. More fun with lawyers. I think I've spent more time in lawyers offices in the past three years than I have asleep. I got another one just like it. I would have felt bad asking my godfather to pay out another $14,000 to get a white one like I really wanted. My mom, bitch that she is, ordered hers to be exactly what I wanted, but she only got the 8 cyl.

The replacement is alive and well and very rapidly depreciating in my driveway as we speak.
