I posted a couple of days ago to see if anybody had any information on the linksys WET52G, no response - also I've managed to confirm that the version 2 (which I need is not available in the UK), so....

Anybody here use the D-Link DWL-G810? If so, if you're running the 2.15 firmware can you confirm that it supports WPA with radius authentication (i.e you can upload a root & client certificate to it)?

The D-Link site simply mentions in the firmware section that WPA was added, but they've not updated the manuals, so I can't tell if it's actually supported properly or not!

These models seem quite popular, so I'm hoping somebody here will be able to check this!

I'd appreciate this a lot!

Well, it's likely that nobody has that product. Like I posted in another thread, I believe that a WRT54G with the Sveasoft firmware can make the router act like a bridge. I believe it also has more advanced security than the standard firmware. It also lets you really boost the signal - by as much as three times, I think. I'd imagine that if you added those fancy antennas they sell to that, you'd easily be able to broadcast through those walls. I'm sure you'd be fine without the add-ons, too.

Normally the WRT54G operates at 20mW I believe. The SVEASOFT firmware can boost it to 251mW. That's a bit more than three times. Hehe.

BTW, any new (stable) version of Alchemy recently? I just started using the firmware's QoS feature to allow my VoIP ATA higher bandwidth priority over other traffic. Working very well and is an absolute necessity if using this type of adapter behind a router.

I'm not really interested in a AP (regardless of whether the firmware is "upgradable" to "bridge operation"), the 810 is fairly small and was designed as a wired to wireless bridge, that is it's only function! (And all I need!)

It's frustrating that seemingly none of the bridges available in the UK support WPA/radius!

And just to clarify, you don't actually need to pay for the Sveasoft firmware. I was actually fooled into that and didn't realize that there's a completely free, stable release out there. It merely lacks all the latest stuff that you can get from the Alchemy release. I'll try to find the location where I found the free one.

We are using several of the D-link DWL-810+ Cheap and nice. They do not support WPA (Firmware Version: v1.8)

Actually, I've been reading the sveasoft forums and it doesn't seem entirely clear as to whether or not it'll do what I want, and I can't ask on their forum because it's locked unless you subscribe to the firmware!

Firstly, their client mode seems to run in NAT mode, which is not what I ideally want, I want it to just clone the MAC address and pass on all the packets.

Secondly it would also appear that WPA support in client mode is somewhat sketchy, the implication is that it might work, it might not!

Thirdly, I can't find any reference to uploading root & client certificates when running in "client mode", I need to do radius authentication (with WPA), so the ability to do this is an absolute must!

Looks like it's close, but no cigar. Dignan, can you see any references to uploading root & client certificates in client mode in the firmware?

And with regards to DWL-810+, this actually appears to be a cut down version of the 810 (despite the fact it has a value adding '+' in the name!) that doesn't support WPA, whereas the standard 810 does.
