So I recently moved to nyc, sold my car to a friend and didn't have time to uninstall my sled. I sold it to a good friend and assumed he would take proper care of it, by having a mutual friend do the new cd player installation. BAD IDEA. He just couldn't wait so he proceeded to cut the wires of the sled, himself, so close that they cannot be reconnected. So now I'm assuming ill need a new connector, pins. Not sure what to do. help Please!

There is a way that you can pop the connectors out of the docking assembly. In fact, the original Mark2 sleds had problems where they would pull out on their own. You should be able to (with a bit of effort) pop out the wire stubs from the connector, attach proper pins and reassemble the connector. Looking for instructions on that now... Follow the links on that FAQ page for details on how to repair / replace the wires in the harness.

The first thing is, I would shoot your (supposed) good friend through the vitals. He doesn't need those bits, so they could have been cut off anyway.

Secondly, how close is "too close to be reconnected"?

Thirdly, have you got the sled metalwork, rear connector and the remains of the wiring back from SGFWB? If so, then if you disconnect the connector from the sled and send wires plus connector to me, I can repair them for you. In about three week's time.

Finally, if you can wait about a month, I will be re-opening support and I happen to have all the remaining new, and secondhand-repairable Mk2 harnesses in stock, so I could do you an exchange or outright sale. In about three week's time.
