My photos from the meet are online:
http://www.norman.cx/photos/default.asp_Q_ST_E_1_A_F_E_20040713%20Empeg%20Euro%202004%20small
These are smaller versions than I posted earlier, so that my DSL line will cope better

The remote display was part of Hugo's original mp3mobile, which he brought along to demo to us.
We must be a cult, we even have our own religious relics (mp3mobile, not Hugo).

Too Bad, I could really do with a remote display, and remote controller as my empeg is confined to my glovebox. I don't think there is anyway of running the sony stalk to remote control the empeg (i.e. a wired remote) without having a tuner. Am I right there ?

Correct, though Patrick is still talking about the possibility of a tuner kit that doesn't contain the tuner module. It would have just the stalk controller and some other inputs. Might be a while even if he gets round to it though.

Long before the tuner came out someone used a PIC and connected a wired remote to the serial port.

Yeah, that was (IIRC) Jon Bauer. The instructions are somewhere out there.

If memory serves he only actually released schematics/PIC code for the Peugeot stalk project. The Sony one was discussed but no code was available from his website.

Well, I hate to make it even worse: if you'd been at the meet you'd discover that this problem is now a thing of the past....

John Lambon did one and Charlie Payne did one. That's what I found by looking for it in Google anyway.

Thanks for the photos. Looks like it was a lot of fun. Can someone explain what is going on in what I assume is the RTA demo? It looks like its boosting most of the frequencies beyond 0db isn't that a sure fire way to cause clipping? Is that just due to the bad environment of the demo space? -Mike

The player plays a series of samples, one for each band on each channel. While doing this it monitors the sound output from the speakers via a the mic. It then adjusts the EQ to compensate.

It's supposed to normalise the levels of the bands so most are cut and maybe a few boosted. I've looked at the code though and I think I may have got this the wrong way around so that more bands are boosted than cut Oh well that's what alphas are for . Anyway if the bands are too high just lower them all by the same amount.

I don't think that's very funny!!! How do I launch an offical complaint against that "oh so photoshopped" photo off me? There is no way on earth I could ever look that rough, well ok maybe just a slim chance with a little beer, but I never had ANY of that evil stuff, honest

The Ripley's Drambuie videos, which we can see him taking one of in that third picture, are in fact remarkable.

Cool. Since I reported a bug in software that I don't actually have, doesn't that mean I deserve a copy

Here are my Amersfoort photo galleries, in all of their uncaptioned glory. I'll gradually add one-liners to each photo, identifying the faces where possible, but for now.. here they are.
